One of Coward’s best loved plays, it was first seen in the West End in 1941, creating a new long-run record for non-musical British plays of 1,997 performances… Researching for his new novel, Charles Condomine (Stephen Knight) invites the implausible medium Madame Arcati (Lyn Henley) to his house for a séance. Whilst consumed in a trance, Madame Arcati unwittingly summons the ghost of Charles’ dead wife Elvira (Debbie Meakin). Appearing only to Charles, Elvira soon makes a play to reclaim her husband, much to the chagrin of Charles’ new wife Ruth (Angela Parry). One husband, two feuding wives and a whisper of mischief in the air – who will win in Coward’s unworldly comedy?
